When discussing geek idols, you’ll usually end up at one of two men: Han Solo and Indiana Jones. Both played by Harrison Ford and both iconic characters. But at the end of the day who is cooler? The GeekDown crew sits down to debate who would win in a showdown. Who do you think is cooler?

DC New 52 vs Marvel Ultimate - GeekDown Minisode

DC’s New 52 has garnered a lot of interest this year, and with good reason. Revamping the entire line of comics, DC tried to reinvent their characters for new readers. But remember when Marvel did the same thing all those years ago? That’s right, I’m talking about the Marvel Ultimate Universe.

This time the GeekDown crew sits down to debate the differences between DC’s New 52 reboot and Marvel’s Ultimate reboot. Which is better?

Biggest Disappointments of 2011 - GeekDown Minisode

2011 is coming to a close and there have been a lot of moments to make geeks happy. There were also a lot of huge disappointments too. Rather than listing off the best of the year, like so many others do, the GeekDown crew gives their picks for the biggest disappointments of 2011. What do you think made this year’s naughty list?

Battlefield 3 vs Call of Duty Modern Warfare 3 - GeekDown Minisode

Now that the dust has settled a bit, we sit down and discuss one of the biggest gaming debates of the year: Battlefield 3 vs Modern Warfare 3. Which game is the better game? Which game sold better? Which one should you be playing? These are all the kinds of questions we tackle on this GeekDown Minisode. Which do you think is the game worth buying?

Holiday Gamer's Gift Guide - GeekDown Minisode

Have you missed us? It feels like forever since our season finale but don’t worry, we’re back with another minisode to bring some much needed GeekDown-iness to your day. Check out our Holiday Gift Guide for Gamers.
In this GeekDown minisode we sit down with Paula Rhodes, star of the new film ‘Shuffle’. We discuss the trippy Twilight Zone-esque film from the director of ‘Dear Zachary’ and find out more about what brought Paula to the project in the first place. Of course, in GeekDown fashion, expect the conversation to get derailed quickly and the hilarity will ensue.

Who's The Best Martial Arts Star? - GeekDown

Bruce Lee, Jackie Chan, Jet Li, Chuck Norris, Donnie Yen, Tony Jaa, Jean Claude Van Damme, and Steven Seagal. They all left their mar k on the world of martial arts movies, each in their own way. They helped take the genre from poorly dubbed and cheaply imported flicks to amazing works of art. But who was the best? Who was the most influential? And above all else, who would win in a fight? The GeekDown crew sits down to debate these questions with the help of Kenn Scott, martial arts movie director and bonafide Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle. That’s right, we’ve got the man behind the mask of Raphael from TMNT and TMNT II: Secret of the Ooze. In our Geek Worthy segment we tackle the news of PETA getting pissed at Mario and Skyrim making an estimated $450 million at launch. Who do you think is the best martial arts movie star?

Skyrim Makes $450 Million at Launch - Geek Worthy

Bethesda out does themselves again. Elder Scrolls 5 Skyrim dominates game stores across the country making an estimated $450 million at launch! The hosts of GeekDown break down why they believe this is possible all while not be surprised at all due to the games all around epicness!

PETA Hates Mario - Geek Worthy

PETA released a game this week on their site which shows Marios “hate” towards Tanookis. It’s a blatant exploitation on PETA’s behalf just to get attention towards their cause. This has to be their most obscure attempt yet.

What's the Best Licensed Game? - GeekDown

Licensed games have been around almost as long as video games themselves. From the abysmal ET for the 2600 to the amazing Batman Arkham City we sit down to debate what the best licensed game of all time is. We also discuss news of Mass Effect 3’s leaked beta and the new details surrounding Microsoft’s next Xbox.

So what do you think is the best, or worst, licensed video game?

Next Xbox Mimicking Apple? - Geek Worthy

New details regarding Microsoft’s followup to the Xbox 360 have emerged and it’s not what you’d think. With phrases like “going the Apple route,” is this what gamers want to hear or will the next Xbox suffer a fate similar to that of the Atari Jaguar? It probably won’t be that bad but check out this clip from GeekDown.

Mass Effect 3 Beta Leak - Geek Worthy

Mass Effect 3 is still a while away but eager gamers were lucky enough to get their hands on an unofficially leaked beta and yes, it includes multiplayer. Want to know all the details of what’s in the beta? Check out this clip from GeekDown.

Did you get a chance to play the beta?

The Death of Discs - GeekDown

Physical media has been around as long as, well, media but with the rise of digital media ever since a little program called Napster revolutionized the music scene, are we about to see the death of the disc as we know it? Netflix certainly seems to think so with its efforts to send its disc-by-mail service to die a grisly death in the failed Quikster rebranding but will our current infrastructure and broadband restrictions hinder our ability to support the move to a completely digital world where everything is on-demand? And what about games?

With used game sales being their bread and butter, will game retail kings like GameStop support a change that will surely hurt their business dramatically? Michael Quiroz of Nyko Technologies joins the GeekDown crew this week to help debate these very questions. Caution: lots of geeking out will happen.

In our Geek Worthy segment we break down Capcom’s announcement that the upcoming Resident Evil Revelations for the Nintendo 3DS will cost a whopping $50 and that’s not even including the new Circle Pad Pro attachment that’ll make the game much more enjoyable to play. Have publishers gotten too greedy or is this just a sign of an upcoming permanent price jump?

Resident Evil Launches at an Epic Price

Capcom announced that their newest Resident Evil Title will launch with $50 price tag attached to it. They go on to say that the higher price is due to the larger memory card that is needed to contain the entire game and is well worth it. But is this the start of higher prices for portable games? With today’s consumers demanding higher quality, can we expect that to reflect in a raise in prices?

Classic Horror vs Modern Horror - GeekDown

Horror movies have been a staple of the cinemas since the early days of motion picture. Starting out as adaptations of folklore with films such as Nosferatu, the genre grew in popularity leading to many of the iconic movie monsters popularized by Universal Pictures in the 1930’s and 1940’s. Horror has grown and evolved since its early days leading to today’s horror films such as Paranormal Activity.

With so much change in the genre, we want to know what the best type of horror is: classic or modern? The GeekDown crew gathers the best examples of horror throughout the years and throws them in the ring to let the best one survive. What’s our pick? Were we even able to narrow it down to a single pick? You’ll have to watch to find out in our horror movie showdown.

We also check in with the news that cropped up this week. First up was The Walking Dead getting picked up for a third season after only two episodes of the second season have aired. Is AMC jumping the gun a bit or are they just doubling down on the winning racehorse? Only time will tell but until then check out our thoughts on how AMC’s zombie show has been faring this season and what we want to see from the impending third season.

And that’s not all on this week’s show. We also delve into the details (or lack thereof) of Rockstar’s announcement of Grand Theft Auto V. We all know to expect big leaps forward with numbered titles in Rockstar’s blockbuster franchise but what do we want to see in the series’ next?

If that wasn’t enough to handle for one show, we’ve also got beer. So you know it’ll be a good show. Just check it out. I’ve just got one question: Should we drink more on shows?

Favorite Halloween Movies - GeekDown Minisode

Are you in the mood for Halloween? If you answered yes or no, you should check out our favorite Halloween movies. We’ve got an eclectic mix of movies to get you in the mood or to accentuate that mood. And I bet you can’t guess what our picks are. Go ahead and try.

GTA V Announced with Details - Geek Worthy

GTA V, or Grand Theft Auto Five for those of you who don’t like abbreviations or roman numerals, was finally announced by Rockstar after months of rumors. Numbered titles in the GTA series have been known for upping the ante considerable, versus the incremental changes of the non-numbered titles such as Vice City and San Andreas. What do you want to see from the next outing in Rockstar’s blockbuster series?

The Walking Dead Season 3 Preview - Geek Worthy

The Walking Dead just started their second season but AMC has already announced that the dead will continue to walk for a third season.
On this week’s episode of GeekDown, we talked about animated superhero adaptations. What’s the best one? Or is it even possible to decide on a definitive best one?
